Visiting the Pont du Gard

sunny 23 °C

Today we decided to drive (!!!!) to the Pont du Gard
It's only about 33 kms away, and the GPS in the Peugeot 3008 worked very well to guide us there - using a back way, to avoid having to go through Nimes with its very narrow - sometimes one-way streets.
Entry to parking at Pont du gard was 15 euro -paid on departure - but that gets you in to the displays, museum and a walk to the famous of Roman aquaducts.
The bridge is quite a spectacle:

The GPS got us back safely - but I'm sure she took us down a one way - cos we met a large delivery van and had to back up to find a passing space!!!
On the highway there is no shoulder of gravel to run onto - just a deep ditch at the edge of the bitumen - with enough room for two cars!!!

I've been playing with "autostitch" and have now also discovered how to add pics into the actual blog, rather then just have them in the photo gallery.
This afternoon we caught the 2.00 pm bus and went into Nimes to send back a parcel of excess baggage!! We explored a bit more!!
Got more provisions and cooked a great feast for dinner!
