Florence - Day four

Exploring continued.

overcast 24 °C

Last night we enjoyed a great homecooked meal from the resident chef!
There is a market just down the street and the butcher took such care in slicing chicken breast and removing the fat pieces.. very impressed.

This morning we headed off about 9.00 am to visit the Duomo.. We were able to avoid all those tourists.
We went on to again see the statues in the Loggia, walked through the Collanade and across the Ponte Vecchio.
We then strolled on to the Pitti Palace and this time paid the 9 euro to get in to see the silver exhibition, the marvellous Russian exhibition and the extensive gardens.

After this we used our bus tickets to get back to the station and went in search of the Sita bus agency to get some info for a possible trip to Siena either tomorrow or Thursday.
We eventually found info, then after a sojurn back at the studio for a well earned rest, we again set off on foot to look for the nearby botanical gardens. We discovered these and used our passports to gain free entry (for over 65's!) .
This garden was probably part of the nearby University and really needed a lot of water! No comparison to our botanic gardens
We did see one of the workers using a very novel approach to weeding the pathways though! (see pic gallery!!)

Our map showed a very large green area not far away, so we walked on.. only to discover that a huge private hotel was in situ at the place.

But undeterred, we soon found a bus stop and got on the red double deckker open top bus, for a second trip to Fiesole.. this time in peak traffic!!

Tomorrow's another day..
