Today - Monday 2nd May, we set off early, walking in light rain (we had our raincoats prepared!!) to locate the France com offfice in rue Echelle where we'd be catching our tour bus for the loire on wednesday - good to know if it was an easy walk - and it was quite good - just half an hour!!
We then discovered the L'Open Tour hop-on hop-off bus, We booked two days of bus touring and sat on the open top deck to learn about the main sights - we managed two tours today with a little hopping on and off and will tackle two more tomorrow.
The building architectures are just mind-blowing and the traffic - well we did not see any accidents but the roads were very busy with cars, heaps of motor scooters and many courageous cyclists ! Thank goodness that the buses seem to have their own transit lane and many streets are one way.. We had English commentary via ear phones that we plugged in to the bus seats.
We decided to hop off the last tour at a spot closest to the studio and found it an easy walk!

Today (Tuesday) we again headed off on foot to try to catch the blue bus route and tour around a bit more - we'd purchased tickets for two days. We found the bus stop near the Hotel de Ville but had to wait for a fair while.. The view from the open bus on the top deck is the way to take good pics. We swapped to the Orange bus route and toured parts south of the main city. After this we visited the Church of the Madelaine - a huge structure - with no windows - very ornate inside. We also visited the Church of saint Severin -very ancient.
Eventually we found our way back to the studio.. very weary..
